Name: Elyse

City: NW DC

When did you first start running: The track coach in my high school thought track would be a sport that I would enjoy and in which I could excel. I joined the team, loved it from the first practice, and haven't stopped running since.

Other Activities: Washington Running Club President, Lululemon Run Club leader, Girls on the Run Coach

Goals for 2010To break 3 hours in the Boston Marathon this spring and to a PR in the 5k, 10k, and 10 mile distances in the fall.

Thoughts on having a coach: Coach Mike has really helped me fine-tune my training and racing.  Each workout on the training schedule is specific and purposeful.  The structure of Coach Mike's training plans, as well as his guidance and racing advice have helped me run PR's from the 10k through the marathon!  I believe that a running coach is not only important to help you develop specific workouts for your event and help you peak at precisely the right time for your race, but to continually push you beyond your limits.  A coach will also tell you when to step back, and will be able to provide the necessary guidance to reach your individual goals.
