All ability levels welcome! Sign-up for a 3-month Training Program, a Running 101 session and/or strength training review sessions.

• Your individualized training program is based on the principles of periodization, which is the science of altering training volume, intensity, and specificity at various points in the year in order to maximize fitness.

• Having a personal coach can teach you how to vary your training throughout the year, avoiding mental burnout and/or physically overtraining, and allowing you to peak for a goal race (or competition) at a specific point in the year.

• You will receive feedback regarding your pacing and intensity to ensure your training progresses, and you will also receive help in allocating each workout to a specific day in your schedule to ensure it is feasible to adhere to the program.

These coaching services are also intended for those just beginning an exercise routine.

• The words fast, fit, and competitive are all relative terms, so there is no need to feel you must be an "elite" runner to work with DC Running Coach. Many runners have contacted DCRC shortly after completing their first road race, or finished their first race shortly after receiving a DCRC program.

• Leading an active, healthy lifestyle is reason enough to lace up your running shoes or adhere to a workout schedule at your gym. However, with the additions of a formal running program and selective races to your schedule, you will then have solid reasons to adhere to an exercise regiment and a new-found motivation to reach a peak level of fitness.

• Being trained "as an athlete" will expose you to different methods of achieving fitness and break humdrum exercise routines that may have proven unsuccessful in the past. Once you begin to train for a specific goal-race the importance of proper  nutrition will become evident and, more importantly, realistic. The rationale of being encouraged to run is that you will become fit simply as a byproduct of training like an athlete, without being distracted by wanting to improve your physical appearance.
